At Cyn Environmental Services, Mr. Murphy was the Western Regional Manager, responsible for all aspects of environmental operations and sales, managing over 200 accounts with revenues of greater than 2.5 million dollars per year. Mr. Murphy’s expertise ranges from tank removal, remediation, emergency response and waste disposal.
Past experience ranging from field operator to regional manager, has allowed Mr. Murphy to become proficient at most facets of the environmental contracting industry. Mr. Murphy is the driving force behind Western Mass Environmental, from its inception to its exceptional growth over the last three years.

Municipal Electric Company (Confidential Client) Ludlow, MA
Responded to a release of 9,600 gallons of non-PCB transformer oil. Due to a fire caused during the release, a large volume of rinsate water (later estimated to be 250,000 gallons) was also generated. Approximately 5,000 tons of soil was excavated, and several hundred thousand gallons of rinsate water were properly disposed of or treated and re-used. Due to elevated concentrations remaining, hydrogen peroxide was utilized to treat the remaining soil. Three treatments were completed, totaling over 10,000 gallons of hydrogen peroxide utilized.
Following and during the completion of remediation, a comprehensive assessment program was initiated. This program determined that the contaminant levels had been significantly reduced by the actions undertaken at the site. This allowed the determination of a level of No Significant Risk and closure of the site, in accordance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan 310 CMR 40.0000.

In 1998, a fire destroyed a building in Springfield, Massachusetts. Following the fire, nine underground storage tanks (USTs) and fifteen hydraulic lifts, that the client had no knowledge of, were found. In total, five release tracking numbers were issued as a result of the demolition at the site, and subsequent impacted soil. All waste generated during the excavation of each tracking number were kept separate and disposed of according to source material and analyses. In total, over 2,000 tons of impacted soil was generated, and eventually all five tracking numbers were closed in accordance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan 310 CMR 40.0000.
